About Me

I am currently studying a degree in Interactive Multimedia Design at the Jordanstown campus of the University of Ulster. I have always wanted a career in the computer industry and I believe that this is due to my flair for computers. Ever since primary school I have had an interest in computers and following my work experience two years ago I became focused on achieving the grades I needed to gain a place in a computer course. Initially I was attracted to Computer Science however after studying this course for a year I knew that this was not the course for me. This was mainly because I am more interested in actually designing computer software rather than writing it and I had not realised how much computer programming was going to be in my previous course.
To study for my A-Levels I attended St. Michael's College Enniskillen Co. Fermanagh, I studied A-Levels in Chemistry ICT and Mathematics and also studied Biology to AS Level. During my A-Level studies my academic knowledge and ability in ICT and Mathematics continued to improve due to taking part in many different types of practical assignments. Biology and Chemistry also improved my scientific knowledge which will not only benefit me now, but in later life as well.
In my previous school, St. Aidan's High School Derrylin Co. Fermanagh, I was elected a Class Prefect in my third year while in St. Michael's College I was chosen as a Prefect and as a member of the Peer Support Group. In addition to academic achievements I believe during my time in these two schools I gained many useful life skills including communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
At St. Aidan's High school I continued to work hard after completing my 11+. I came second in the school's House Points System out of over 200 students. I was also member of the school band which helped me to relax from school study. Furthermore, I passed three music exams under the RIAM (Royal Irish Academy of Music), played at several public events including the ordination of a local priest. I have also won a wide range of trophies and medals in music. I also went on a school trip to Paris, which was a great experience. Throughout my time in St. Aidan's I was also involved in a lot of charity work, raising a substantial amount of money, my school attendance for my final year was 96.5%.
Outside college I am a member of the local youth club, I read to large congregations on a regular basis which has improved my confidence and communication skills and overall I am a very active member of the local community.
